Contractor Parking Policy

Policy Details

Any individual parking on campus is expected to comply with all parking policies and rules established by the university.

The location of a perimeter fence must be coordinated with the WKU project manager and Parking & Transportation Services for any staging area that reduces existing campus parking.  Parking within a perimeter fence boundary does not require a parking permit.  Activity within the perimeter fence is the responsibility of the construction firm.

When parking outside a perimeter fence, a university parking permit is required.

When construction activities will affect traffic patterns or access to parking, contractors are to coordinate these activities with the WKU project manager and Parking & Transportation Services a minimum of 48 hours prior to the event.

Parking options available to all contractors with authorization from the WKU project manager:

  • Annual Commercial Permit ($245/year)
    • 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM valid in all zones, expect gated lots
    • 4:30 PM – 7:30 AM valid in all zones
    • Valid 30 minute maximum in University Service Vehicle Spaces (WS)
    • Firms are eligible for two (2) annual permits.
  • Monthly or Daily Contractor Dash Permit ($2/day)
    • Parking and Transportation Services will designate parking according to availability.
    • PTS will limit the number of monthly or daily permits available per project to maintain adequate parking for faculty, staff, and students.
    • Valid 30-minute maximum in University Service Vehicle Spaces (WS)
  • Permits are issued to the individuals performing work on campus, or may be provided to a subcontractor by the hiring firm.

Parking fines are the responsibility of:

  • The individual or firm listed as owner of the parking permit.
  • The registered owner of the vehicle if no permit is displayed.

PTS recognizes that circumstances exist that require contractors parking access outside this written policy.

  • With approval from the WKU project manager and PTS, contractors may request a permit allowing parking on grass/grounds, sidewalks, or additional parking lots.
  • Any special access permit will be issued for a specific project and a limited time period.
  • Regardless of the special access that is granted, the following regulations are in effect:
    • The vehicle cannot block an ADA accessible route.
    • The vehicle cannot block designated disability parking.
    • The vehicle cannot block a fire lane or access for emergency vehicles.
