18 WKU students earned the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship for study abroad in the March 2024 application cycle, more than any other college or university in Kentucky.

WKU students Kirstin Bobbitt, Carolyn Brueggemann, Allison Francis, Samuel Gorecki, Maria Julian, Kierigan McEvoy, and Serena White have each been awarded $25,000 David L. Boren Scholarships to fund language-focused study abroad in 2024-25.

Two WKU students have been offered 2024 Critical Language Scholarships, and two have been designated alternates. CLS is an intensive overseas language and cultural program of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

22 WKU students earned the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship for study abroad in the October 2023 application cycle, more than all of Kentucky's other colleges and universities combined. Their awards totaled $77,500.

WKU has been named a Top Producer of Gilman Scholarship recipients by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA).
