What Does a Veterinarian Do?

Whether they’re pets, livestock or working animals, animals matter to individuals and society. Every community needs veterinary professionals to provide animal health care, but veterinarians also do many other kinds of jobs. They make sure the nation’s food supply is safe. They work to control the spread of diseases. They conduct research that helps both animals and humans. Veterinarians are at the forefront of protecting the public’s health and welfare.

*Not sure what to major in? Most pre-vet students are either Biology or Agriculture majors (but you can select any major, as long as you complete the required prerequisites for veterinary school).  To determine which major is the best fit for you, you should consider what you would want to do should you not get into, or not enjoy, veterinary school.  It is always wise to consider all of the career options that a certain major can lead to!

 

 

 

Get Involved! 

In addition to gaining patient care and shadowing hours, being involved on campus is a great way to prepare for 
Dental school.  Consider joining the Pre-Veterinary Club or Alpha Epsilon Delta (AED), National Health Preprofessional Honor Society.
